A professional, adaptable and reliable individual with 15 years’ experience of working as an Art Educator. Experience of teaching in different art and community organisations and educational institutions delivering imaginative, unique and engaging art projects and programmes. I am dedicated to providing a supportive and inclusive environment with the aim to positively engage all of my learners. Extensive experience of working with students who are disengaged from learning and who have endured social, emotional issues, as a result I have the personal skills needed to communicate sensitively with and build confidence in my students. I have managed a team of 5 within a Whole School Art Department and have written, created and lead unique art curriculum, transforming the art programme for the school with the focus of meaningful and effective learning for students. I have taught Visual Art GCSE, A Level, AP, IB MYP and DP accreditations and have designed, written and developed various art curriculums and IDU projects over the years. I am passionate about promoting the visual arts department and student work outside of the classroom and into other areas of the school and community. As a result of the diverse teaching experience I am able to easily develop new exciting, engaging and structured art lessons that create a space for valuble and successful learning to take place.

Recent Teaching Experience

 

July 2019 – July 2021 Middle School Visual Art Teacher Stamford American International School, Singapore

I am responsible for the designing and implementation of the Grade 6-8 art curriculum MYP programme.

  • Developing and executing the preparation, planning and delivery of child-centered learning activities to a range of visual art classes and age groups

  • Using a range and balance of teaching strategies, including those specific to the visual art specialism

  • Ensuring that the classroom environment is well-managed, properly ordered and with engaging classroom displays

  • Planning which accommodates a range of ability levels and learning styles; teachers are expected to modify and accommodate for students as needed, i.e. accommodating individual language needs (EAL), student support services, students who are struggling as well as students who need to be challenged

  • Planning in a collegial and professional manner with peers, showing respect, being prepared and on time, and adhering to the school wide meeting norms and team’s essential agreements at all times

  • Involving students, parents and colleagues in the assessment process on a regular basis and as appropriate

  • Evaluating the visual art program collaboratively with teaching teams

  • Support the visual art team in displaying artwork around the campus and in school wide visual art exhibitions

  • Plans and supports special events to celebrate the arts, such as art week, art competitions and other events

I am responsible for the designing and implementation of the art curriculum across the Primary, Middle and High School and to present exciting art lessons that actively engage learners and educate them on traditional methodologies. I aim to provide students the support and knowledge to be able to achieve academic success through creative expression.

Duties include;

  • To write, implement and deliver a new and highly effective curriculum for the art department.

  • Manage a team of 5 specialist Art Teachers which include Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Film and Animation and Drama.

  • To lead, develop and enhance the practice of other teaching staff in the department and oversee the continuing development and expansion of the department. 


  • Write Schemes of Work, programmes of study, assessment, monitoring and recording procedures including reporting to parents in line with current school practice, and the effective setting and monitoring of homework within the Subject Area. 


  • Hold regular formal weekly department meetings to review, plan and evaluate the work of the Subject Area.

  • Working In partnership with and form part of the whole of the school academic team.

  • Represent the Subject Area at all relevant meetings including Heads of Department and impart information to colleagues

  • Play an active role in the quality assurance within the art department and review lessons, give feedback and identify professional learning needs within the department. 


  • Promote the school and student work through marketing material of student art exhibitions held within and outside of the school in local art galleries in Shenzhen.

I am a UK fully qualified Art Teacher who is passionate about art and teaching in all environments and with students from diverse backgrounds, cultures and learning abilities. I have 15 years experience of working in different educational institutions delivering many imaginative and inclusive art projects and programmes with the goal to engage people within communities. I have extensive experience of working with students who are disengaged from learning and who have suffered with social, emotional issues. I have the skills and experience to engage students from any background with any challenge in a positive and motivating way. I am very adaptable and have taught in Adult Education Centres, Youth Centres, Primary and Secondary schools in the UK, HMP Prisons teaching accredited course and International Schools across Asia.
